yasmin boakye

is a Pushcart Prize-nominated essayist and fiction writer raised in the Maryland suburbs of DC. A 2014 Callaloo Fellow in Fiction at Cave Hill and a 2019 Seventh Wave Resident at Bainbridge Island, she is also a recipient of NYU Abu Dhabi's Global Academic Fellowship in Writing and a VONA/Voices alum. Her prose has appeared or is forthcoming in Refinery29, TRACK/FOUR, The Seventh Wave, Puerto del Sol's Black Voices series, and Bird's Thumb. She is currently based in Iowa City, where she is pursuing the Master of Fine Arts degree in Nonfiction at the University of Iowa.
